The last economic studies show an export growth to U.S. countries of more than 15%, in the first nine months of 2010, reaching a total turnover of 665 million dollars. These facts were announced by Umberto Vattani, President of Italian Trade Commission , while introducing the “I Love Italian Shoes” campaign in New York, in occasion of an important Fashion Footwear show at the Hilton Hotel, three weeks ago. The positive judgment on Italian firms’ products was almost unanimous.

On November 23rd, during the usual autumn summit of A.N.C.I. (National Association of Italian Shoe Factories) in Milano, many words were said about the revival and the economic outlook of shoe factory. Italian factories should follow four main business routes: the subcontracting, the development of their own brand, the protection of distribution channels and a special attention to downstream phases, that is policies on brand, marketing and distribution. The general advice is to overcome purely individual logics, in order to achieve more profitable aims and reach higher quality levels (setting Made in Italy products apart from those of other countries). Italian shoe industry has still a high growth potential, even more than advanced technological sectors. One need only consider that 60% of surplus value in the European shoes market is produced in Italy. Export economic figures are importanto too, turning out to be especially positive in the so-called historic "shoe-district" of Fusignano-Bagnacavallo, where export growth rate is of 18,1%. As stated in many business meeting, lately, Italian shoe factory seems now to be ready to turn around from crisis.
